I’m a Nudist

Okay, maybe that’s not much of surprise to my readers and fans. Jane, the protagonist in the My Body Trilogy has her experiences with nudity but that’s all I’m going to give away.

Why be a nudist, Ms. Bennett, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. I was most definitely born that way. You can ask my mother. I have always enjoyed laying out in the sun naked and the resulting lack of tan lines. I have never understood the hang up of undressed bodies as if everyone will be fornicating at the drop of a hat.

The concern I hear the most is that men will be walking around with erections all the time. I’m here to inform you that is very much not the case. Nudism does not equate to swingers and orgies. I can’t explain why some of us feel comfortable begin naked around others, while some find it frightful to even consider.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of us out there. There are resorts worldwide, naked cruises, clubs, beaches, etc. Not all cultures are as uptight about nudity as the US currently is.

In a novel that my husband and I wrote to together called The Demarcation of Jack (hopefully coming out later this year), Jack finds himself in an awkward situation. Jack is an artist who sculpts naked people. At a resort in Jamaica the tide is turned and he dares to travel out to a nude island where, for the first time in public, he painstakingly disrobes to the cheers of his fellow travelers.  Once nude he realizes that all his angst was for naught. Myth dispelled, he settles in like a pro with a new appreciation for his models.

I have had a few friends mention their concern about cleanliness. Nudists, in my experience, are a rather intelligent sort and they too care about being sanitary. They cover chairs and lounges with towels and shower before entering the hot tub. They also wear shorts or a wrap, around food.

“What do you do when it’s cold?” I have actually been asked that question. We wear clothes or stay indoors where it is warm. We are nudists, not stupid.

I do prefer to be naked and enjoy the sense of freedom it provides. I practically live in my PJs when I’m in the house and less if it’s really warm out. We spent a lot more time naked when we lived in Florida, sometimes to just combat the heat. Because it’s a lot cooler in Washington, I live for the hot sunny days which require no clothes.

As nudists, we shed all the stereotypes that come with the textiles we choose to wear and get to meet on a different level. You might assume that all nudists are hedonistic liberals but you would be wrong. Nudists cross all cultural, religious, and political lines.

I don’t mean to imply everyone should be a nudist but I do mean to adamantly state that nudism is alive and well and a healthy, safe expression of freedom.

We recently celebrated our club’s 75th anniversary in the SUNSHINE while also participating in the world’s largest skinny dip representing North America.  I recommend getting some sun on your buns this weekend.  I sure plan to. 😉

Warm hugs,

Book Description:

Jane has accepted that her relationship with her husband Luke, who drew her into the darker side of BDSM, is over. She has taken refuge at the home of Luke’s powerful friend Marcello and his submissive, Janice. With Marcello’s patience exhausted, Jane must either submit to his demands or move on from his household and his support. Ultimately, she signs a six month contract of sexual servitude but, as Marcello and Jane grow closer, Janice feels neglected and jealous, creating tension in their normally easy daily rhythm.

In an effort to help Jane, her best friend Parker introduces her to Chase, a confident and flirtatious man who lacks the arrogance of either Luke or Marcello. Jane’s rapport with Chase is lighthearted and subtle, allowing her to gain a new perspective on men. She is intensely attracted to Chase but does not feel free to consider him as more than a friend.

Once Jane gets a real picture of Marcello’s extremes, she knows what she must do. Her feelings about Luke and Marcello and her own sexuality must be resolved before she can find true love with a man who appreciates everything she has to offer. Can she possibly find the kink she has come to desire without the full-time submission?

My Body-Mine is the final book in the My Body Trilogy.

Book Description:

Jane Stiles has embarked on an intense odyssey into the world of domination and submission. She no longer recognizes herself. She has quit her job, surrendered her possessions and agreed to a wedding where she is the only one naked, all for the sake of the elusive Luke—a man so compelling, she can deny him nothing.

Now there is no going back. Her new life will revolve around Luke, his friends and clients. Hovering in the background is Luke’s best friend Marcello, whose ego is as towering as his stature. Marcello has set his sights on Jane. She is drawn to his power, his masculinity, and the challenge he represents, even though she fears and dislikes him. After Luke discovers that Jane has breached one of his many “rules,” he sends her to Marcello for punishment and lessons in Dom/sub culture. What happens there will change her forever.

Jane and Luke reconcile, and even find a rhythm that includes not only bondage and punishment but genuine love-making. Just when Jane is convinced that the happiness and devotion she has always craved is within reach, Luke pushes her beyond endurance, and she rebels in a way her harsh husband cannot forgive. From there, her life spins out of control. But Jane has a strong spirit, and she will prevail. My Body-His (Marcello) is Book 2 in the My Body Trilogy.

This fateful encounter prompts her predictable life path to veer into uncharted territory, sweeping her along on a frightening erotic journey into the world of bondage, domination and submission.

Jane had never experienced genuine desire, and now passion consumes her life, robbing her of free will. Her new lifestyle creates an emotional chasm between her and her old friends. Prepared to surrender everything to Luke, she wonders if her everything will be enough. She now needs his discipline as much as she craves his love and approval. How far down this dark path is she willing to go? Jane’s pilgrimage into domination and discipline has created a war between her mind and her body, and her body is claiming victory.

Blakely Bennett grew up in Southeast Florida and has been residing in the great Northwest for over eight years. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a degree in psychology, which accounts for her particular interest in crafting the personalities, struggles, and motivations of her characters. Blakely is married to a wonderful, loving and supportive husband, also a writer, who helps to keep her grounded. She is a mother, a communitarian, a lover of music (always on while she is writing—thank you, Pandora), and a good friend. An advocate of love and female empowerment, she is a facilitator for a women’s group. She loves to walk and hike for exercise and finds that, since moving to Seattle, WA, she is now one of those “crazy” people who walk in the rain.

I have enjoyed this emotional series very much. Jane has been on a journey of self discovery and with My Body-Mine, she claims the happiness she  deserves. She goes in a little bit of a different direction in this book with her relationships, but I found myself really feeling like it worked.

Jane has had quite a lot of things to work through in the series. Entering into the BDSM lifestyle, dealing with a Dom that did not respect her safe word and more…I am not going to give anything away here…just to say that Chase is a man that Jane will grow into. He will respect her for the woman she is and that is worth everything.

Stage Fright

Follow reluctant spiritual medium Toni Bianchi as she discovers the extent of her powers over ghosts and men. Toni’s powerful sexual energy acts as a conduit for wayward spirits and affects the mortals around her.

Her impulsive nature and misguided business sense lead her into a string of odd real estate ventures with one common amenity – each has a resident ghost who needs Toni’s special gift to help find eternal peace through earthly gratification.

Toni is guided through her adventures by the quirky cast and crew of the hit television ghost-hunting show “Paranormal Research Team”. Sexy host Thomas Becker hopes that Toni can help him prove that ghosts exist and he’s glad to step in when the paranormal encounters turn erotic.

Will Toni be able to manage her ghost encounters long enough to forge a lasting human connection?

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for a review.

I am a fan of this series. Ghosts and real estate. What could be better? When Toni helps check out an old theater, she is instantly drawn to the sexual energy of accused arsonist, Kip. His residual energy haunts the old place. With the help of the ghost hunting crew and a photographer that has also passed on the the other side, Toni solves the mystery of who really burned down the old theater. Sexy and smoking hot, this story was a very pleasant paranormal read with some phantasmagorical love scenes that will make you wish you had a ghost in residence. (I know I did. Mmmmm.)

Gabriel Holly has done a great job with this book and I enjoyed it immensely.
