Description:

Fourteen authors of lesbian fiction contributed otherworldly, thrilling and supernatural short stories that will keep you glued to your seat.

Andi Marquette: SpiritQuest, LLC

The ghost hunters of SpiritQuest, LLC are preparing for a visit to the historic Halstead House, where the ghost of 26-year-old Lily Halstead reportedly appears. The crew discovers that Lily left behind a female lover and a bit of a love story, which adds to the mystique of this paranormal case. Is Lily waiting for her lost love? The chance to perhaps find out, plus the mysterious Sky Adams, who volunteers to accompany them to the Halstead House, promises to give the intrepid ghost hunters a Halloween to remember.

Bridget Essex: Moon Dance

A woman on a camping trip believes she’s dreaming about her ex-lover visiting her on Halloween night…but it’s no dream.  And while her love may become rekindled, her lover isn’t exactly how she remembers her.

Catherine Lane: Taylor-Made

Taylor’s ordered, boring world is turned upside down when she impulsively steals a jacket. It’s magic, and now she can’t take it off. Suddenly, she’s taking crazy chances with her future—risks that put her center stage at a première Hollywood Halloween party and into the arms of its lovely hostess. Is it a dream come true, or is Taylor losing herself to the magic?

Cori Kane: A Lesson in Magic

At her best friend’s Halloween party, Erin meets Raymond and finds him strangely attractive. Strangely, because she’s a lesbian and men haven’t been on her radar for some time. But Raymond is not quite the man his costume might suggest.

Elaine Burnes: A Certain Moon

First dates are nerve-racking under the best of circumstances. Ann really likes Erica but is convinced it can’t work out. It never has before. She pleads with her furry companions to behave. Will they? If Ann reveals her secret, can Erica handle it?

Erzabet Bishop: Ghostlight

Melanie reluctantly accompanies her friend Rachel on a ghost walk. She has no way of knowing that she will be in for a ghostly night of pleasure of her own. Exasperated by her friend, Melanie takes off to go home when she decides to stop at a quaint tea room for a bite of supper. Vykky is closing down the tea room but offers her a special brand of hospitality that will leave Melanie questioning her views about the supernatural once and for all. **First published in Coming Together Girl on Girl (Aug 4, 2013)

Eve Francis: Fresh Blood

When cop Allie gets home late from the night shift, she finds her girlfriend, Violet, home early and annoyed. The couple’s squabble turns into an interesting and feisty argument, as Allie—a vampire—must convince Violet—a human—that she has not done anything she shouldn’t while on shift. Allie thinks back on her busy night, which involved a crash, a robbery, and her feeding on fresh blood and must decide what details to reveal and what to keep hidden for later.

Lois Cloarec Hart: Walking after Midnight

Gem has carried a torch for the way-out-of-her-league Kate since they were in high school together.  When she flees a party after fearing her unrequited love has been exposed, she meets a mysterious woman who gives her a whole new perspective on the situation.

May Dawney: The Road Home

Heading home from a crazy Hallow’s Eve shift at the local bar, Rebecca Linder finds herself face-to-face with a ghost story come to life. Things are not always what they appear, however, and sometimes the worst moments in a life can lead to some of the best.

Orhea the dreamer: That Day

Angela White is your average Texan living in a rural community. In great detail she describes the infamous Halloween day when she took a trip into town and met with fate in the form of a hitchhiker, who happens to be a werewolf hunter.

Q. Kelly: Hit and Run

Maxie Douglas’s husband, Zachary, was mowed down by a hit-and-run driver five years ago on Halloween. Far from grieving, Maxie is eternally thankful to the driver for saving her from the monster Zachary had become. She longs to meet her hero or heroine, but there is much she doesn’t know.

R.G. Emanuelle: Strega

In the town of Benevento, Italy, the ancient art of witchcraft was accepted and honored, unlike the rest of the deeply Catholic country, where witches were considered the devil’s minions. Raffaella, escaping an abusive marriage, stumbles upon a witches’ Sabbath near Benevento. Despite her fear, she is drawn to Serafina, a woman participating in the ritual. Serafina shows her compassion and respect and offers her shelter, which Raffaella gladly accepts, and as the days pass, something more blossoms between them as Raffaella learns the healing arts and with the magical powers of il noce, the sacred walnut tree, discovers her own special gifts.

S. M. Harding: A Winter Tale

Epifania Gordy comes home to New Mexico to mourn the death of her lover—or join her. When she uses remembered fragments of an ancient Highland ceremony to summon Sadie, what she conjures isn’t who she expected.

Steph Gottschalk: Object Permanence

In the wake of a tragic accident, a woman suspects that her wife may be haunting the house as a ghost.

SilkWords offers a unique, interactive, “choose your own” experience for romance readers

Bellevue WA, February 14, 2014 — SilkWords LLC today celebrates the launch of a web site that offers a first-of-its-kind reading experience for women’s fiction (www.silkwords.com).

The site blurs the line between fiction and casual gaming by offering high quality, interactive romance that allows individual readers to choose how the story proceeds. Readers can also experience the story in different ways by returning to choice points and following different paths.

SilkWords was founded by wife-and-husband team Keri and Boyd Multerer. Boyd, who works as development director for Microsoft Xbox, is no stranger to the gaming industry.

“As a working mom of three young children,” Keri said, “I believe there’s a potentially huge market for a site that offers high quality women’s fiction that can be consumed quickly. And the marriage of two very popular forms of entertainment—romance and gaming—was a no-brainer for us.”

The site offers an upscale experience—original artwork, plus paid subscriptions instead of advertisements—and a continually expanding collection of multichoice stories varying in length, romance subgenre, heat level, and sexual orientation of protagonist.

Featured at launch are new stories from award-winning indie romance author Lisa Scott (also with HarperCollins and Bell Bridge Books), paranormal and fantasy author Skyler White (Berkley, Tor/Macmillan), award-winning historical author Kim Taylor Blakemore (Penguin, HarperCollins), and sex-journalist-turned-erotica author Leigh Cowart.

SilkWords’ acquiring editor is science fiction romance author Sharon Lynn Fisher (Tor/Macmillan), a Romance Writers of America (RWA) 2013 RITA finalist and three-time RWA Golden Heart finalist.

“Our goal is to offer something for everyone, from erotic to sweet, historical to sci-fi,” Fisher said. “It’s such a fun format for authors to play around with. Have you ever read a romance and wondered what would happen if the heroine made a different choice? Picked a different guy? Waited longer to kiss him? Our readers get to find out.”

Today’s launch is phase 1 of a larger SilkWords vision.

“The beautiful thing about SilkWords is there’s a ton of room for experimentation,” Boyd said. “Different forms of storytelling, interaction with the authors, and moving the medium forward. It’s stories first, gaming second, with a lot the two sides can learn from each other.”

Romance Industry

According to a study commissioned by Romance Writers of America, the nonprofit trade association for the romance industry, romance novels generate $1.4 billion every year, with 44 percent of sales in e-book format and the majority of buyers falling between the ages of 30 and 54 (http://www.rwa.org/p/cm/ld/fid=582). The digital book market has made romance even more popular by offering an anonymous experience (Good E-Reader, http://goodereader.com/blog/e-book-news/e-readers-stimulating-the-sales-of-erotica-ebooks).

Video Game Industry

It is estimated that 183 million people in the United States play video games (TED, http://www.ted.com/conversations/44/we_spend_3_billion_hours_a_wee.html), and 31 percent of those are women over the age of 18 (Entertainment Software Association, http://www.theesa.com/facts/pdfs/ESA_EF_2013.pdf). A recent CNN article cites an increase in female protagonists as well as “complex themes and more scenarios that call for decision-making, not brute force” as possible reasons for the increase in the popularity of gaming with women and girls (http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/08/tech/gaming-gadgets/female-gamers/).

cover_lbtct-jae

Blurb:

Three short stories that follow the lives of Rachel Lewis, self-confessed Christmas Grump, and Lillian Coleman, the woman who makes her believe in the magic of Christmas again.

***The Christmas Grump***
For Rachel Lewis, a security guard at the mall, the Christmas holiday season is one big headache. She wants nothing to do with the celebration of love, peace, and family harmony. Her disenchantment with the holiday slowly begins to change when she meets seven-year-old Tyler and his mother.

***Kissing Ms. Santa Claus***
Rachel is counting the days until she and Lillian celebrate their first Christmas together as a couple. She is filled with longing for only one thing to make her holiday complete: a long-term commitment from Lillian. She sets out to find the perfect gift that will reflect her love and devotion.

***The Christmas Elf***
After her home state finally recognizes same-sex marriages, Rachel wants to propose to Lillian. Rachel is confident she has it all covered. She plans to take a second job as the mall Santa Claus to earn the money for Lillian’s ring. But luck is not on her side, so Rachel finds herself with bells on her toes, playing a Christmas Elf.

Note: “The Christmas Grump” and “Kissing Ms. Santa Claus” have been previously published in the anthology “Gingerbread Hearts”.

Guest blog:

Personally, I like Christmas. I mean, what’s not to like? Spending time with family and friends, eating good food, including German holiday classics such as Zimtsterne and Linzertorte, and having some time off to put your feet up and look back at the past year…

But, of course, not everyone feels that way.

Rachel Lewis, the main character in my series of short stories, doesn’t. She’s the proverbial Christmas grump. Her mother died a few months ago, her girlfriend left her and took their fake Christmas tree with her, and the Christmas carols in the shopping center, where she works as a security guard, are driving her crazy. No wonder she doesn’t like Christmas.

That is, until she meets Lillian Coleman and her seven-year-old son, Tyler. Lillian has her own reasons to dread Christmas. This is the first time she’ll have to celebrate Christmas without her late partner, and she’s still paying off medical bills, so she can’t afford the robot that is on Tyler’s wish list.

In “The Christmas Grump,” you can read about what happens when Rachel rediscovers her Christmas spirit and sets out on a mission to make at least one of Tyler’s wishes come true.

The next two stories, “Kissing Ms. Santa Claus” and “The Christmas Elf,” give us glimpses into the lives of our Christmas grump and her loved ones around Christmas one and two years later.

I hope you enjoy the stories in Love Beneath the Christmas Tree and have a merry Christmas!

Many greetings from Germany,

Jae

Thank you Jae for visiting the blog today. I am about to hunker down for a spell before going to work and start in on your wonderful holiday collection. I love your work and it an honor to share a publisher with you. Ylva is a special place that brings joy to readers everywhere and I hope you will all share your holidays with us this year.

Jae

Jae grew up amidst the vineyards of southern Germany. She spent her childhood with her nose buried in a book, earning her the nickname “professor.” The writing bug bit her at the age of eleven. For the last six years, she has been writing mostly in English.

She works as a psychologist and likes to spend her time reading, playing board games with friends, spending time with her nieces and nephew, and watching way too many crime shows.

Warehouse Wonder World: A Spicy Interview with the Amazing Jane Brooke

warehousewonderworldcover

A stunning, waif blond British female is abducted by a mysterious female at the train station in Paris. Thus, in a Paris warehouse she is taken on a sexual journey of unfathomable pain, pathos, humiliation by what appears to be a serial killer, or worse a complete and deranged power provocateur. It is, with the fact in mind that some females need flowers and dinner for sexual fulfillment and others need handcuffs and a crop a story that read to its end is nothing as it seems and in that end is touching to say the least.

http://www.amazon.com/Warehouse-Wonder-Lesbian-Erotica-ebook/dp/B00COS3ZGW/ref=sr_1_3?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1376401177&sr=1-3&keywords=warehouse+wonder+world

1. You mentioned that you began writing erotica when you were pretty young. What started you writing hot and spicy stories?

(YES, at fifteen, and because both of my parents are British brilliant artists, I got parts of both of their brains and quickly they placed me in Savant child programs and with an IQ whirling around 170, they did not drug my talent out of me, I was very lucky to be born to them. I am also a painter. I choose erotica, or more like it, erotica choose me because I felt I would not ever need to deal with censorship since my writing has been described as pornographic gun shots and bullets whizzing past your ear. Like DeSade, I would write with my own blood and feces on-a-wall if chained to a prison cot if that was the only venue that was available to me to write my beloved words.) I write or I die.

2. What kinds of characters do you most enjoy writing about?

(I write hard truth reality and since I do a research tour through the European sex and fetish clubs once a year, as a voyeur, I write what I know and see. Of course those are the lovely and honest people that hold no shame in their minds, nor boundaries as they seek the freedom to express themselves within their most natural sexual desires. I do not write Fabio romance, or about lost princesses and the knights that save them. I love to write a lot about female hit woman as I did in my anthology (British Bonzai Bitches) babes that are fierce, valiant, fucked up by genius brains and always are so problematic. I write about hard, dangerous, amazing, unique, compassionate, sweet and hyper sexual woman and for woman, and to empower women. Fuck, I am a women; well at 22 almost TEE HEE.

3. Tell us about your newest release, Warehouse.

(WAREHOUSE WONDER WORLD) yes, is was a total maniacal romp into the world of a lesbian submissive stunning English female who at the hands of what appears to be a sadistic female serial killer, is abducted at the train station in Paris and then in a Place Monge Paris warehouse, is taken on a psychological and physical sexual journey into the very depth of her sexual sole. As everything I write (I never write rape, or under age sex) WWW in the end is my hope of a total education to my readers that sometimes what they are seeing, is in fact nothing as it seems and I have been told, quite moving and poignant in the end. I actually have witnessed such SCENES at Amsterdam and Berlin SCENE CLUBS.)

4. What are some tips for writers working on their first book length novel?

(Leave home, travel to Amsterdam, smoke hash, (I never do drugs, but at one time I did) never judge, always change, take life risks, experience everything possible considering erotica love, all genders will be just fine, thank you very much and laser your cunt, wear a mini skirt, try girl-girl sex, it’s sooo yummy, KATY PERRY SAID” I Kissed a girl and I liked it, the taste of her Cherry Chap Stick) diet, wear heavy mascara, get you’re hair cut and cow boy up and, then let it RIP and write, write, write what you KNOW, not what you think you know. You want something deep, sexual and meaningful in your life; then don’t be afraid to grab it. You’re unhappy, fuck, do something about it.

VegasJanecover

5. Tell us about your sexiest scene ever…

(That’s a hard one and all of my work is laced with sex and if I had to choose, and because of my bent personality well it would be in Warehouse Wonder World. I love very dark humor in my erotica, and the Dominatrix, the powerful woman has that, a twisted and almost sadistic sense of humor, and I am laughing for as the English blond waif is hanging by her wrists by leather restraints from eyebolts in the ceiling, and being cropped and forced to multiple orgasms, the Dominatrix pinches her cheeks and demands her not to cum again. Now, say to me “You can’t make me cum. DO IT and I will let you go.” Whimpering, the girl trembles the words out of her quivering lips. “I will try.” Then in process with a ball vibrator pressed to her cunt and as the girl says over and over as her tits are cropped “You can’t make me cum” She has an explosive orgasm. The sadistic woman, looking at her with disgust, says. “I thought you said that I couldn’t make you cum?” Hyperventilating, the waif moaned “You tricked me.” Evilly and cynically Mistress smiled and said. “Yes, I did, didn’t I?” Though trapped within what apparently the very nexus of darkness, I always try to give my readers humor, it lightens the novel, and thus we can move deeper and deeper into the pathos of the human mind.

6. Heels or flats? (or just bare feet…naked is good…)

(Never ever, ever flats BIG SMILE they remind me of those gals with dog leashes running around the dog show in Manhattan. Naked, well that is the skin we were born in, and YES, sometimes stilettos, they are so dramatic, but most of my girls, Jane in “Jane, Vegas PI” Kenna Gray in “Love, Sex & Silhouettes” and Adray Venus, my stunning platinum clad skinned Cyborg girl in “CYBORG GIRLS” as well as the savage blonde Mandal in my mostly lesbian hit woman “British Bonzi Bitches” all wear combat boots, because they are kick ass kinda girls. My female leads are all genius savages, go toe to toe with life, and mostly fight and decimate evil men in wars to the death, men that have dismantled and injured either dogs or females BIG SMILE.)

7. If you were going to be smothered in food, what would your favorite food be?

It would have to be fruit, blueberries, black berries, straw berries, mangos, papaya, etc, I love fruit, and never shy away slathering it on myself or one of my sweet gay girlfriends. Yes, I warned you, I am savage, one of my most favorite words.

8. What is your biggest pet peeve in erotica?

(OMG, where do I start? Listen, I know I am just a thug with a keyboard, and am no better or worse than any other female on the planet. I dare not judge anyone, for I am so imperfect. But if pressed, I will say why bother to write, unless you can hopefully write something that incinerates the readers ID. Personally, I don’t get all the Fabio, Prince kills the dragon and saves the princess thingy, I mean come on, really, how many times can that story be told. A good example is the (50 Shades) thing, there is nothing realistic in it, if this is heat, passion, madness between two lovers, then I will drink the Kool Aid. Again, I want my readers to see a REAL world of sex, bdsm, bondage, fetish, all gender pathos and sex, not some tepid made for TV world they think is out there, but the world I have seen personally, respect and love. I know, from my reader’s e mails they appreciate my Hard core writing of what really is going out there. Ride hard, give your words the spurs and, then hang on to your dildo for dear life, that’s my motto.)

9. Flogger or whip?

(HA HA HA all of the above and more. I am a huge fan of “Sex Tools Kits” and machine sex, dildos, vibrators, handcuffs, leather restraints, crops, whips, lashes, guns, Caterpillar Tractors, predator drones, anything and everything a female might need to AGAIN fulfill her artistry as she seeks complete and total sexual fulfillment. Remember, it is the MIND that is the sexiest organ in the body, and basically, and I have witnessed most of it, if you can think of it, it will be used as sex implement of pleasure EG: “WAREHOUSE WONDER WORLD.” By the way and since “CYBORG GIRLS” takes place in the year “2101, the futuristic sex with AE computers and machines between humans, Cyborg females and Androids, is nuclear.

10. What do you want readers to get from your work?

(Blasphemy, banality, incredulity, mind fucked, heart pounding honesty, jaw dropping reality, (DIRTY THOUGHTS BIG SMILE) beauty, love, Sex and more sex, humor, redemption of the human soul and hopefully their hearts and minds vaporized and, then reborn and hopefully educated of what the possibilities are if one were to step through the door of what happiness await a human being if they dare to seek it.

11. What is next on your writerly horizon?

(HAVE a new 4 book erotica series called the “Hit Woman’s Assassination Hand Book” 1st novel coming from the publisher in two weeks. It’s about Mandal, a Mensa brilliant stunning blond killer, and we follow her life as she runs from a private girl’s school in Montreal at 15 and we pick her life up twelve years later. She’s been a nude dancer, a grifter, whore, habitual liar and then a Contract Killer for a Obese New Jersey Mobster which she (after  basically selling out because she can’t take the heat of life) has become his concubine. She then runs with a million of his cash and thus the hunt for her across the USA by the mobster’s killer crew begins. She breaks down in her old Caddy in a last ditch Texas shit hole called “Inferno Flats”, run by the violent COX clan that run a massive crystal meth empire. Using her incredible beauty, she must lie, grift, cheat, use her astonish IQ and beauty and then kill everyone as she tries to escape with her head still attached to her neck with their money. Except, she falls in love with a horribly burnt ex Green Beret who is a gifted poet and the third Cox brother and has become a reclusive master horse man shaman to the desert Indians. With the NJ crew boring down on her and the illiterate and lethal two Cox brothers wanting to fuck her, she must play out the final grift to the end. Does she get out alive, don’t know, read the book BIG SMILE. This is my absolute fav thing I have ever written though that of course only means something to me.)
